Ankeny entrepreneur and public servant pledges to cut property taxes, strengthen schools, and support working families
ANKENY, IA — John Hollinrake, an Ankeny native, business owner, and deputy to U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, today announced his campaign for the Iowa Senate. A lifelong Iowan with deep roots in the community, Hollinrake is running to bring common-sense leadership and fiscal responsibility to the state capitol.
“As I travel across our community, families are telling me they’re being squeezed by higher costs and higher taxes,” Hollinrake said. “It’s time to bring property tax relief to Iowans, invest in great schools, and make it easier for working families to thrive right here in Iowa.”
Hollinrake is the founder of Hollinrake Properties, a real estate development company based in the Des Moines area. He currently serves as Deputy State Director for U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, where he works every day to help Iowans navigate federal issues and get results from their government.
A graduate of Ankeny Centennial High School and George Mason University, Hollinrake is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is an active parishioner at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church and a former volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa.
“As someone who grew up here, I want to make sure the next generation can build a future here,” Hollinrake said. “That means keeping Iowa affordable, supporting our schools and teachers, and strengthening our workforce so families can succeed.”
Hollinrake’s campaign will focus on priorities that matter to everyday Iowans:
- Cut Property Taxes: End the cycle of runaway assessments and rising bills that are pricing families out of their homes.
- Great Schools: Ensure Iowa’s students and teachers are focused on the fundamentals, so all students are prepared for success in the global economy.
- Support Working Families: Strengthen community college and job training programs that prepare Iowans for the future.
John Hollinrake was born in Des Moines and raised in Ankeny. The son of two military parents, he learned the value of service, hard work, and integrity at an early age. He is a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau and Phi Beta Delta International Honor Society.
Hollinrake is seeking the Republican nomination for Senate District 21 which encompasses Ankeny. Learn more about John Hollinrake’s campaign at hollinrakeforiowa.com.
